Still, series fans will delight in the well-executed plot twists and revel in Cussler's portrayal of a shipwreck laden with tons of Chinese antiquities. The book Flood Tide, by Clive Cussler was a non- stop action mystery, with a never ending suspense. I could't put it down. The book was about a Chinese billionaire- Qin Shang- who was smuggling illegal immigrants into the country. He was doing well until the hero, Dirk Pitt, stepped into his operation.


Unlike some of the earlier, more sedate Dirk Pitt novels by Clive Cussler, Flood Tide and other recent ones, such as Shock Wave and Odessa Sea, are chock full of thrilling action and all-out combat. They all merit 5 Stars. “Flood Tide” is a well written, easily read and followed adventure work of fiction authored by Clive Cussler. The book is of medium length and holds one’s attention. I enjoyed the novel and found it to be a fairly typical “Dirk Pitt” adventure novel, at least up to this point in the chronological order of these novels. Some readers will wince at the way Cussler heightens the drama by tapping into right-wing fears of a flood tide of nonwhite immigrants.
